This is Maverick.  Our friends up in Mt. Vernon have had him for eight years.  You'd be hard pressed to find a pooch with more drool, flatulence and personality.  He's truly one of a kind.  Unfortunately, our friends learned that Marerick developed a heart condition and that's he on borrowed time.  Here's hoping the last days with this crazy dog are filled with fun, laughs and love.

For the first time since we moved into our 'home-away-from-home' we turned on the heat.  Maybe it's colds we're all nursing,  maybe it's the chill in the fall air, and maybe we're just trying to hold onto a little of the warmth from summer; but's it's happened.  The days are definitely getting shorter around here.  I'm starting to wonder if we'll see the new house in the daylight once it's all finished.

We're scheduled to move back in by November 10th.   There.  I just jinxed us.  Well, it's probably not that bad.  The painters are scheduled to finish painting the inside and out this week.  Next week the garage door arrives along with trim, flooring and interior doors.  So that should give you, my dear reader, a small idea of what lies ahead.

It's the home stretch.  So to speak.
