Shooting family portraits is a welcomed change-of-pace for me after so many weddings this summer. Don't get me wrong, I love hanging with brides and grooms and their respective friends and families (by the end of the night I feel like I've known them forever), but sometimes it's great to get with a family like this and just let the evening play out.
Katie and I had been planning this photo session for what feels like months. After shooting their family portrait last summer, we really wanted to one-up ourselves for 2012. When all is said and done, she and her charming family will have an original painting on their wall -- and I'd like to think that several of these images might surround it.
If it looks like they had a lot of fun at this shoot -- that's because they did. I have no idea how we're going to top this for 2013, but I'm sure Katie is already thinking about it.
